The Northfield Fire Department in Litchfield will be hosting an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony at their new firehouse at 12 Knife Shop Road. There will also be a wetdown for the new Engine 3 as well. The event will take place on Saturday 12/5/09 from 11-3. Best of luck with the new station and engine.
The Center Groton Volunteer Fire Department is working along with our area Marine Corps for this years’ Toys For Tots drive. You can drop off a NEW unwrapped toy at the fire department 163 Candlewood Rd. Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday’s and Sunday’s 11am-3pm. The Center Groton Fire Department is hosting a pancake breakfast on Sunday November 15, 2009 from 9AM until Noon. Price is $5 at the door for pancakes, sausage, bacon, coffee and juice... mmmm makes me hungry just typing this. Please come support your fellow firefighters... heck make a day out of it breakfast with the firefighters then the Mystic / Groton area has plenty to do and keep the kids entertained.
The Center Groton Fire Department is having a halloween party on Saturday October 31, 2009 6PM - 9PM at the fire station along with hayrides. Dress the kids up and bring them down for what is sure to be a fun and safe evening.
The North Farms Volunteer Fire Department in Wallingford will be hosting an open house on Monday 10/5/09 at 6:30pm at the fire station 636 Barnes Road (At Route 67). The new 2009 Crimson / Spartan Engine will be on display along with Rescue-7 & Tanker-7. All residents, firefighters and neighboring departments are encouraged to attend.
Monroe will be holding a wetdown at Saturday 10/3/09 11-1 at Wolfe Park for all six new fire Sutphen Apparatus. They're also holding a Wetdown from 3pm until ??? the same day at Monroe Station #1 which is on Route 110 near the Route 111 intersection. The Long Ridge Fire Company will be holding their annual open house in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week on October 10, 2009! This year will feature the amazing acts of Professional Magician Peter West! We will also feature live fire demonstrations, fire truck rides, raffle prizes and pumpkin picking! The Yantic Fire Engine Co. #1 in Norwich will be hosting their annual steak and lobster dinner Saturday 8/15/09 5:00pm at the fire station 151 Yantic Road, Norwich. The dinner includes chowder, baked potato, corn on the cob and a beverage and the dinners available are steak, lobster, surf-n-turf, double steak or double lobster. The Norfolk Fire Department will be hosting a wetdown for their new 2009 Seagrave Pumper Engine-40 on Saturday July 25, 2009 from 1:00-3:00pm at their firehouse 20 Shepard Road. The Westbrook Chemical Engine Co. 1 annual carnival will be Wednesday 7/8/09 thru Saturday 7/11/09 behind their firehouse on South Main Street just off Route 1.
The Center Groton Fire Department located at 163 Candlewood Road, Groton will be having a spaghetti & meatball dinner on August 1, 2009 4pm. Tickets are available at the station or by calling the station 860-445-5775. Adults are $10 and Seniors/Children are $8.00.
Beacon Falls annual firefighters parade will be held on Saturday June 13, 2009 in the center of town.
Wolcott Volunteer Co. 1 will be conducting a vehicle extrication drill at their fire station on Central Avenue on Thursday June 18, 2009.
The Nichols Fire Department in Trumbull will be conducting a live burn on Saturday June 6, 2009.
The Bethany annual Firefighters parade will be held on Friday June 5, 2009.
The Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire Dept in Newtown will be holding the annual lobster bake on Friday June 5 and Saturday June 6. There will be plenty to eat, Irish band, and should make for a great time. You can stop by station #1 on Riverside Drive to purchase tickets in advance.
Stratford Firefighters are celebrating their 100th anniversary with a parade on Saturday 4/25 starting at fire headquarters on Main Street. Local politicians along with departments from all over New England and the Tri State area are expected to attend. A festival is expected to follow the parade.
Branford Rescue Company 1 is doing a fund raiser on Monday 4/20/09 at ELI's on the hill. It is tip-a-firefighter from 5:30pm until 9:30pm. The rescue company is trying to raise money to purchase an ATV.
Norwalk Fire is currently accepting applications for firefighter positions until May 23, 2009. Check out http://www.norwalkct.org/fire/index.htm for details.
Congrats to Asst. Fire Chief Paul Cahill on retiring from the East Haven Fire Department. Good luck and thank you for all your dedication to the fire department.
